Samajwadi Party will field Dimple Yadav, daughter-in-law of party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav [ Images ], for the Ferozabad Lok Sabha bypoll.

The by-election has been necessitated as Akhilesh Singh Yadav, the SP chief's son, vacated the seat and retained Kannauj. Akhilesh also heads the party's Uttar Pradesh [ Images ] unit.

The candidature of Dimple was announced here today by SP general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav at a press conference where he rejected a suggestion that SP was promoting dynastic politics.

Asked whether Dimple was a primary member of the party, he said, "all family members (of Mulayam Singh Yadav) are life members of SP."

While Congress has decided to field former SP MP from Agra [ Images ] Raj Babbar, BSP has said it will put up S P Singh Baghel, who had contested the general elections from the same seat.
