Exactly a month after Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's death in a helicopter crash, his family on Thursday moved out of the Andhra Pradesh chief minister's official residence in Begumpet area to their own home in swish Banjara Hills.
While the belongings of the family were being transported over the last few days, all the occupants along with their servants and other members of the staff moved to the Road No 2, where YSR stayed before coming to power in 2004.
The move was seen as an indication of significant climbdown by YSR's son Jaganmohan Reddy in his claim for the chief minister after the Congress high command brought tremendous pressure on him to retreat.
Sources close to the family say Jagan will now be permanently based in Hyderabad and will aspire to be a full-time politician. Two close aides of YSR, MLA Ambati Ram Babu and Karunakar Reddy will be responsible of looking after Jagan's political plans and activities, sources said.
The sprawling official residence of the chief minister, which was officially built for YSR after he came to power, include all the facilities, including a camp office and a separate residential quarters.
While YSR's predecessor N Chandrababu Naidu worked from his own residence in Jubilee Hills area during his nine-year-long rule from 1995 till 2004, it remains to be seen whether YSR's successor K Rosaiah will choose to stay at his old residence in Ameerpet area or will move to the official residence.
As a precaution, Rosaiah has not moved in to the chief minister's secretariat till now and has worked from his old chambers of finance minister.
