Digital offers Alpha based Windows NT servers

Email this story to a friend. Digital Equipment India has announced that its new Alpha based servers, which will be able to deploy Windows NT across the enterprise.

Announcing the commitment to the Windows platform, officials here said that the prices of the three new Alpha based servers have also been reduced in the range of 20 to 36 per cent over previous similar offerings.

Digital's new server line
Digital's new line includes five new Intel based servers ranging from entry level Pentium II systems to mainframe eight-way Pentium Pro servers.

Digital's new Windows NT-only Alpha based servers, which extend the Digital server line with scalability and performance, complements these servers.

Among the new systems being announced are four rack servers designed specifically for standard 19-inch racks.

Digital India Managing Director Som Mittal declined to comment on a newspaper report that Digital and Compaq would retain their separate identities in India despite the global merger of their parent firms.
