The Indian Navy on Wednesday submitted its final report on the Adarsh Housing Society scam based on its internal inquiry, to the defence ministry.

Earlier, the Navy had informed the Central Bureau of Investigation that it had not given clearance for the construction of the building.

According to sources, Navy wrote to the investigating agency that it never issued a No Objection Certificate to the Adarsh Housing Society.

The Army is also expected to submit its internal report later this week.

The Maharashtra government will also submit its first probe report to the defence ministry in next two days.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi had on Saturday set up the two-member panel to probe how the 31-storeyed plush Adarsh Cooperative Housing Society came up on a piece of land meant for the families of Kargil martyrs and the allotment of flats to politicians, bureaucrats and military officials.

The 31-storey Adarsh Society in Colaba, Mumbai, has become the catchment area for a massive political controversy.

Former Army chiefs, politicians and bureaucrats have all been allotted flats here for a fraction of the market rate.

Records show that two members of Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan's family, whom he describes as distant relatives, are among the 104 allotees for Adarsh Society.
