Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has directed police officers to provide intensive commando training to Anti Terrorist Squad so that the force could face every challenge.

"Commando training should be imparted to all three wings of ATS by November," Mayawati said during a review meeting with top bureaucrats and police officers held in Lucknow on Wednesday evening. The CM also directed the Director General of Police for immediate improvement in crime investigation by ensuring necessary arrangements are being made to use forensic lab and other methods of scientific investigation.

The district police should utilise the facilities of modern scientific investigation methods on the lines of specialised agencies like Crime Branch Criminal Investigation Department, Economic Offences Wing and vigilance, she said, adding the investigation officers should be given training in new genres of techniques. Necessary steps should be taken to provide high-level training to police force after new recruitment, Mayawati said.

She also directed to strengthen the transport system between the cities so as to streamline the traffic. In a selected area, modern traffic system should be implemented on an experimental basis, she said.
