Govt releases computer courseware on CDs

Priced at just Rs 220, the CD-ROM package, or courseware, is designed for students in rural areas and wherever there is shortage of computer teachers, according to Professor P V Indiresan of the DOEACC.

by giving students access to the best teachers," Indiresan claimed.

The first edition involves courseware on two modules at the 'O' level and will be updated depending on feedback, he said.

Alagh commended the DOEACC for its many achievements including self-sufficiency and also for the fact that it has helped create employment opportunities.

The conversion of the course material into CD-ROMS was done by a Madras-based software company which will pay royalties to the DOEACC for sales abroad and keep internal prices at the minimum prescribed.

Candidates undergoing DOEACC courses can appear for examinations at more than 66 centres and on award of a certificate by the society, apply for government jobs.
