Informix to distribute database software free

Email this story to a friend. Informix, providers of enterprise database-driven technology, has announced it would distribute free of charge its dynamic server database software to developers on the Windows NT platform.

The company expects that this would help the development of new NT applications and increase its presence in the Windows NT market.

The company will offer a free development license of its database software to developers who build Informix database applications on NT.

They also plan to give away 20 free deployment licenses per end user site for the first five such sites. This offer is effective from July 15.

According Kishore Taishete, managing director, Informix, the 'Target NT' initiative would provide free development licenses for NT developers to help build database applications of Informix dynamic server.

They would also get free developer licenses for the universal data option and Web-integrated option.

Additionally the developers would get free technical support for 100 days on these development licenses. These initiatives are a part of the Informix open-line program.

Maintenance support contracts for the deployment licenses would be available at Rs 96,000 for their first five end-user sites. A free five-day training for two people on Informix dynamic server would be provided in Bombay only.
