Congress MP, Manish Tewari, on the Centre's PR photo-ops with Indians evacuated from Ukraine. "Behaviour of some of these ministers is absolutely absurd and laughable... clamoring on to aircraft in order to do their own political public relations and propaganda. The government is not doing anybody a favour, it's their job."

Aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia for instance met Indian passengers returning from Ukraine and said, "I know you all have been through a very, very difficult time, a very, very trying time. But know this that the PM is with you at every step, the Indian government is with you at every step, and 130 crore Indians are with you at every step."

Union ministers Smriti Irani, Piyush Goyal, Gajendra Shekhawat, Jitendra Singh (pictured alongside) made a beeline to the aircrafts of returning Indians and praised the efforts of PM Narendra Modi in evacuating them.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that it is because of India's "rising strength" that the government was able to evacuate the Indian nationals stranded in Ukraine amid conflict with Russia.

Addressing a public rally in Uttar Pradesh's Robertsganj, PM Modi said, "It is due to India's rising strength that we are able to safely evacuate our nationals stuck in Ukraine, for which we are running Operation Ganga."

"We're making all efforts to evacuate people stuck in Ukraine under Operation Ganga. Thousands of citizens were brought back to India. To accelerate this mission, India has sent its four ministers there, and the government will leave no stone unturned for the safe evacuation of Indians," he added.
