Next 48 hours crucial for IAF chopper survivor

It's a wait and watch situation for the family and friends of Group Captain Varun Singh, the lone survivor of the chopper crash 

"He underwent some surgeries last night and was shifted to the ICU ward (of the Military Hospital, Wellington). Doctors say the next 48 hours are crucial," Captain Singh's uncle and Congress leader, Akhilesh Pratap Singh said. 

People in his village pray for the speedy recovery of Group Capt Varun Singh, at Kanhauli, Deoria.

"Varun is posted in Tamil Nadu's Wellington and lives with his son and daughter," his uncle Dinesh Pratap Singh says.

"My thoughts are with Group Capt Varun Singh who has survived the tragic chopper crash. I pray for his speedy recovery and long life," tweets President Ram Nath Kovind.

 In his statement in Lok Sabha, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday informed that IAF Group Captain Varun Singh, is on life support in Military Hospital at Wellington. "Group Captain Varun Singh is on life support in Military Hospital, Wellington. 

"All efforts are being made to save his life," the Defence Minister said. According to the sources, the health condition of the Shaurya Chakra awardee is critical but stable and he can be shifted from the Military Hospital, Wellington to the Command Hospital in Bengaluru. 

 The Group Captain was recently conferred with the Shaurya Chakra by President Ram Nath Kovind for his act of exceptional gallantry.
