Defence minister won't speak on Rafale today as LS is adjourned

Lok Sabha has been adjourned for the day after suspended TDP MPs continue to protest in the Well of the house over the issue of Andhra Pradesh.

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was today supposed to reply to the Opposition's charges on the Rafale deal controversy.  Giver her another day to prepare for the debate.


During the debate on the topic on Wednesday, Congress president Rahul Gandhi levelled several allegations on the Modi government of wrongdoings in the deal and accused it of indulging in crony capitalism.


The Opposition had also objected to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley responding to the charges on Rafale deal, saying that this is a defence issue and the defence minister must answer the questions in the Lok Sabha.


The Lower House witnessed a heated debated amid sloganeering and some opposition members walking up to the well. The Congress and other opposition parties have been demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to deliberate the Rafale deal.
