The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has blocked the release of Rajinikanth's Kaala in the state.

About 10 pro-Kannada groups approached the Kannada Film Council, seeking a ban on Kaala, because they were dissatisfied with Rajinikanth's comments on the Cauvery issue.

At a recent media interaction, the actor opened up about his film not releasing in Karnataka.

Rajinikanth said, "I don't know the reason behind banning my movie. The KFCC is a part of South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce and I believe that they will intervene in this issue and come to an amicable solution."

Rajinikanth's previous film Kabali collected Rs 30 crore in the Karnataka region. If Kaala doesn't see the light of day in Karnataka, there will be a dip in the total box office collection of the film.

Directed by Pa Ranjith, Kaala, starring Rajinikanth, is a commercial film about indigenous land laws. In the film, the superstar will be seen as a slum lord-turned-gangster who fights for the people living in Dharavi in Mumbai.
