Teacher in custody after reports of gunfire at US high school
February 28, 2018  23:45
Police took a teacher into custody on Wednesday after responding to reports of gunfire at a high school in Dalton, Georgia, the Dalton Police Department said.

No children were hurt or in danger, the police department said on its Twitter feed.

After responding to calls, police said they found a barricaded person inside a classroom that they believed to be a teacher. Few other details were immediately available.

It was unclear whether the person barricaded in the classroom was the teacher later taken into custody.

The students were being taken to a nearby convention center in Dalton, which is located about 90 miles north of Atlanta.

The incident comes two weeks after a shooting rampage at a Florida high school left 17 dead and led to calls from U.S. President Donald Trump for arming teachers as a way to protect students.
