February 28, 2018  19:40
The trial court has given the Central Bureau of Investigation one day custody of Karti Chidambaram, son of former Finance Minister P Chidambaram.

The CBI has sought two weeks' custody of Karti Chidambaram, saying he was arrested because he failed to cooperate with the investigation.

Karti, was earlier arrested by the CBI at Chennai airport in connection with its probe in the INX media case.

Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said the arrest was "classic diversionary tactic" of the government deflect attention from the massive PNB fraud that involved celebrity jeweller Nirav Modi. "This is law, not vendetta," BJP's Sambit Patra said. "If corrupt are being jailed and the law is taking its own course, I see no reason why any political party should cry vendetta."
