Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has been depositing to the toshakhana (the government treasury) the expensive gifts she has received in the past two months as minister.

For instance, the US Secretary of defence gave her a candy bowl which would be estimated to cost over a lakh rupees.

Similarly, the French Defence Minister presented an expensive carved pearl stand, which she returned to the Indian government.

Interestingly, Sitharaman being an MP from Karnataka, selects carved sandalwood elephants as return gifts.

Lessons to be learnt from the lady.
