Israel's Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz on Wednesday announced that a train station set to be built adjacent to Jerusalem's Western Wall and will be named after United States President Donald Trump.

The Jerusalem Post quoted the Israeli minister as saying, "The Western Wall is the holiest place for the Jewish people, and I decided to name the train station that leads to it after President Trump, following his historic and brave decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel."

Katz said the decision was taken to honour President Trump's decision to consider Jerusalem as the Israeli capital.

The station will be build as part of an extension of Jerusalem's highspeed rail, which will soon reach the Western Wall.

Earlier in May, Trump became the first US President to visit the wall, which is considered one of the holiest sites in Judaism, during his trip to Israel.  -- ANI
