RK Nagar bypoll: After drama, EC accepts actor Vishal's nomination

In a twist to the RK Nagar bypolls, actor Vishal's nomination papers have been accepted after they were initally rejected.

Earlier in the day, Vishal, who heads the Tamil Film Producers Council and is the general secretary of the Nadigar Sangam (South Indian Artistes Association), squatted on the road after his papers were rejected.

He said he was told at the last minute that there were discrepancies, in the papers in respect to the signatures.

Late J Jayalalithaas niece Deepa Jayakumar's papers were also rejected today, with officials citing a techinical reason.

As many as 145 nominations were received from aspirants seeking to contest the bypoll.

The last date for withdrawal of candidature is December 7.
