Mumbaikars to protest seeking closure of Deonar dumping ground

Citizens of Mumbai will stage a protest against the municipal corporation and the Maharashtra government over the fire at Deonar dumping ground, which is emanating toxic gases.

The protests, organised by MumbaiPollution.in, will be held at Azad Maidan, which is near the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's headquarters, tomorrow at 10 am.

The peaceful protest will be staged with a demand to shut down the Deonar dumping yard, where a similar incident of fire was witnessed in January.

Meanwhile, media reports said that the fire, which started on Saturday, is still not under control. Photograph: ANI
