The Enforcement Directorate has announced that liquor baron and owner of grounded Kingfisher Airlines Vijay Mallya has to appear in person before the court. His lawyers cannot appear on his behalf, the ED told news channels.

The first hearing in the Vijay Mallya loan default case by the ED has been fixed on March 18.

The Mallya's passport  could be revoked if he fails to turn up before the ED in the alleged money laundering case.

This will be the first step to ensure his deportation, sources said.

Today, a consortium led by the State Bank of India is likely to auction the Kingfisher House at Jogeshwari in Mumbai in a bid to recover part of the Rs 6,963 crore debt due from the now grounded Kingfisher Airlines. The base price has been fixed at Rs 150 crore.
