'Cannot set precedent where accused approach SC at initial stages'

Kanhaiya Kumar bail plea: The SC said that the counsel for all parties will be permitted in the HC court room but entry of others including journalists would be regulated by the Registrar General.

Kanhaiya's lawyers tells SC that their lives are under threat. SC agrees that the situation in the Patiala House Court is not proper.

This means that Kanhaiya Kumar will remain in jail till the High Court decides to hear his bail plea. He is in judicial custody at Tihar jail till March 2.

The SC says it cannot set a precedent where accused move the apex court at the initial stages.
