20:02   Chorus grows to declassify documents related to 9/11
Ahead of US President Barack Obama's visit to Saudi Arabia, there is a renewed push to declassify one of the country's most sensitive documents -- known as the '28 pages', redacted from a top-secret 9/11 investigative report.

A 838-page congressional report would shed light on possible Saudi support for some of the 9/11 hijackers.

For 13 years, the 28 pages have been locked away in a secret vault. Only a small group of people have ever seen them. CBS News spoke to some of them and urged the Obama administration to declassify redacted pages of the report that holds 9/11 secrets.

Watch the report HERE

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has warned of economic fallout if the Congress passes 9/11 bill that would allow the Saudi government to be held responsible in American courts for any role in the September 11, 2001, attacks.

18:43   Improved HIV antiviral therapies in the offing
Scientists, including one of Indian-origin, have identified a human protein that weakens the immune response to HIV and other viruses, an advance that may help improve antiviral therapies, create viral vaccines and lead to new cancer treatments.
"Our study provides critical insight on a paramount issue in HIV research: Why is the body unable to mount an efficient immune response to HIV to prevent transmission?" said Sumit Chanda, from Sanford-Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute (SBP) in US.
"This research shows that the host protein NLRX1 is responsible - it's required for HIV infection and works by repressing the innate immune response," said Chanda.
The innate immune response works by producing a cascade of signalling chemicals (interferons and cytokines) that trigger cytotoxic T cells to kill pathogens.

11:42   Drones to inspect progress of rail projects
Indian Railway has used drones for the first time for inspecting a mega rail project to assess the progress on the ground and the flying machine would now be used to monitor other under-construction schemes.
An unmanned aerial vehicle, also called drone, was used to inspect the ongoing work on the Dedicated Freight Corridor project and, as per the plan, all ongoing projects will be monitored through aerial survey.
Besides, the public sector behemoth has also decided to use drones to assess the ground situation in the aftermath of train accidents.
A drone is essentially a flying robot which can be remotely handled through software-controlled flight plans embedded in its systems working in conjunction with GPS.
"We used a drone to ascertain the progress on the 42 km long track between Baghega to Srimadhopur in Rajasthan in the Western DFC and also the 56 km long line between Durgawati and Sasaram in Bihar," DFC Managing Director Adesh Sharma said.
The drone was used for three days on a trial basis to cover the total 98 km on the DFC. The status report was prepared after the analysis of video recordings.

11:34   41 killed in powerful 7.8-magnitude Ecuador quake
At least 41 people were killed when a powerful 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Ecuador, destroying buildings and sending terrified residents dashing from their homes, authorities said.

President Rafael Correa declared a national emergency and urged the Andean nation's 16 million people to stay calm.

"Our infinite love to the families of the dead," he said on Twitter, while cutting short a trip to Italy to return home.

Vice President Jorge Glas said that the death toll will likely rise further in what he called the "worst seismic movement we have faced in decades."

"Sadly the information we currently have is that 41 citizens have lost their lives in this emergency... This death toll will unfortunately rise in the coming hours," Glas said in televised comments.

Ecuador's Geophysical Office reported "considerable" structural damage "in the area near the epicenter as well as points as far away as Guayaquil."
The US Geological Survey said that the shallow quake struck off the northwest shore of Ecuador with a magnitude of 7.8. Glas gave a slightly lower measurement of magnitude 7.6.

Ecuador lies near a shifting boundary between tectonic plates and has suffered seven earthquakes of magnitude 7.0 or higher in the region of Tuesday's quake since 1900, the USGS said. One in March 1987 killed about 1,000 people, it said.
The Hawaii-based Pacific Tsunami Warning Center initially issued a warning for the nearby Pacific coastline but later said that the threat had largely passed.

00:37   Belgian minister says many Muslims 'danced' after attacks
Belgian Interior Minister Jan Jambon said that a "significant" part of the Muslim population celebrated attacks, blaming the country's policies for failing to integrate migrants into society. He did not explicitly refer to last month's jihadist attacks on Brussels' airport and metro system that killed 32 people.

"A significant section of the Muslim community danced when attacks took place," Jambon said in an interview with the Flemish-language De Standaard newspaper.

The Belgian minister also accused Muslim residents of Brussels' largely immigrant Molenbeek neighbourhood of attacking police during an operation last month to arrest a suspect in connection with the deadly attacks in Paris last November.

00:11   Amid offshore furore, Putin says he earned $134,000 last year
Russian President Vladimir Putin declared frugal earnings worth some $134,000 (Rs 89.3 lakh) last year after the leaked Panama Papers revealed the vast offshore holdings of his close circle.

Putin in his annual declaration for 2015 declared earnings that were up $18,600 (Rs 12 lakh) on last year at the current exchange rate.

He said he still owns the same meagre property as last year: a 77-square-metre flat, a garage, three Soviet-era cars and a trailer.

The Russian leader's latest declaration came after the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists found his close friend cellist Sergei Roldugin headed an offshore empire that had apparently controlled around $2 billion.

Putin has denied any corruption, saying that Roldugin used the money to buy musical instruments including a Stradivari cello.
