The official campaign in the lead up to the referendum on June 23 to decide whether Britain is to remain in or leave the European Union started here today.

Both the Vote Leave and Britain Stronger in Europe camps, designated earlier this week as the official campaign groups for the referendum, are going out in full force around the UK to set out their core message to voters across the country in the remaining 10 weeks before the referendum.

While an unofficial campaign was already ongoing, the official campaign period brings in specific rules for the two sides such as an allowed expenditure limit of up to 7 million pounds each on campaigning, including 600,000 pounds in public funds, and a free mailshot and national TV broadcast.
