The number of Indian pilgrims killed in the Saudi hajj disaster near the holy city of Mecca rose on Tuesday to 74, said External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. Saudi authorities have said the disaster in Mina happened as two waves of pilgrims converged on a narrow road, causing hundreds of people to suffocate or be trampled to death on September 24.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for External Affairs VK Singh is being rushed to Saudi Arabia to coordinate with the authorities there to trace the missing Indians in the Hajj stampede.
