Shootout at Gurgaon: Murder accused shot at, assailants escape

Reports coming in of a shootout in Gurgaon.

Gunmen opened fire on an SUV near a mall in Gurgaon at 9 am today, leaving the driver of the car critically injured. The incident took place on MG Road outside Central Mall in Gurgaon.

The driver of the SUV has been taken to hospital. Assistant Commisioner of Police (Gurgaon) said the victim is accused of murder and is a known criminal.

The gunmen, who were in a Santro, escaped from the spot.

There was nobody else in the SUV. The ACP said that in order to avoid the killers, the SUV crashed into an autorickshaw. No details yet of whether the driver of the auto was injured.

The police are on the lookout for the assailants. Details awaited.
