SP leader shot at by bike-borne assailants in Mathura

A Samajwadi Party leader was shot at by three motorcycle-borne youths today on NH-2 near Chhatta Tahsil, the police said.

Mahaveer Singh Yaduvansi, newly-appointed Samajwadi Party Chhatta Legislative Assembly president, was shot at when he was getting his car mended, Dy SP Atul Kumar Srivastava said.

He was rushed to a private hospital in Kosi Kalan and was later shifted to an Agra hospital, Srivastava said, adding, the condition of the SP leader is now better.

Few persons are being interrogated in this connection, he said.
