A 32-year-old software engineer allegedly committed suicide after critically injuring his wife at a high-end apartment in Dwarka last morning.

Amit Bachchan and Shivani got married in November last year and neighbours told police that they had a strained relationship fraught with frequent quarrels.

On Saturday night, Amit returned home after a party and an argument broke out between the couple, police said. Amit hit Shivani at head with some sharp-edged object.

Shivani, who works in a private company in Gurgaon, suffered severe head injuries. Later, Amit hanged himself from the ceiling fan using the cable which later broke and the body fell down, police said.
