Contrary to reports yesterday that the two Pakistani terrorists were tasked with disrupting the Amarnath Yatra, the Inspector General of BSF, Jammu frontiers, Rakesh Sharma, said today that the men were in fact looking for another target and not the BSF convoy.

The two terrorists, who may have been trained by the Lashkar-e-Toiba attacked a BSF convoy at Chenani along the Jammu-Srinagar national highway on Wednesday.

"The attack on BSF convoy was just a chance. The BSF convoy was not their primary target,'' said Sharma, speaking to the Indian Express, after laying wreaths at the mortal remains of two BSF soldiers who died in terrorist attack on the highway on Wednesday.

"They were looking for something else and it just per chance that the BSF happened to pass from there and they attacked it,'' he added. The real targets of the terrorists would be known only after the interrogation is over.
