Pakistan had termed as "irrational" India's strong reaction to a court's March ruling ordering the release of the 2008 Mumbai terror attack mastermind Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, but hoped that the issue would not affect the proposed bilateral talks.

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's adviser on national security and foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz made the remarks last month, while talking to reporters and rejected Indian allegations that Pakistan was not doing enough to ensure Lakhvi remains behind the bars.

Lakhvi and six others -- Abdul Wajid, Mazhar Iqbal, Hamad Amin Sadiq, Shahid Jameel Riaz, Jamil Ahmed and Younis Anjum -- have been charged with planning and executing the Mumbai attack in November, 2008 that left 166 people dead.
