Body of girl swept into uncovered drain in Bangalore found

Tragic end for little Geetha. The body of nine-year-old Geetha has been fished out of a drain leading to the Madiwala lake in Bangalore. Geetha had been walking on a pavement with her aunt in South East Bangalore on Monday night when she slipped and fell through a gap on the concrete slab covering a drain. Heavy rains in the area had led to water logging and the child did not see the gaping hole.

Marathon rescue efforts began and the National Disaster Response Force was called in on Monday night.
