London's red phone boxes to become charging bays for mobiles

London's iconic red phone boxes, which have long made virtually obsolete by cell phones, are going green literally and being trasnformed as free solar- powered charging stations for mobiles. The first of six Solarbox was unveiled on Tottenham Court Road this week. The service is free to use although users will be shown adverts as they wait for their phone to charge.
