Govt awaits Saudi govt's decision on Haj quota

Meanwhile, our correspondent in Delhi writes that the government today said that it has been informed by the Saudi government that they intend to bring about a reduction of 50 per cent in pilgrims coming from Saudi Arabia for the Haj and 20 per cent from pilgrims overseas.

Given the fact that the processes for the Haj pilgrimage have already been initiated, the government has requested the Saudi authorities both in Delhi and in Riyadh to reconsider their decision taking into account the advanced stage of preparations.
