This is P Chidambaram's response to J Jayalalithaa's comment at the press conference today that he has cheated the nation because he actually lost the 2009 polls.

Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, has the habit of  starting on the wrong foot. I have learned that she has made a statement questioning my election to the Lok Sabha in 2009.

She knows that her candidate, Shri Rajakannappan, has filed an election petition in the High Court, Madras, and that is pending since September, 2009. Her statement is therefore in gross contempt of court. She has always had utter contempt for court proceedings and hence her statement today is not at all surprising.

Besides, her candidate Shri Rajakannappan also contested the Assembly election in May, 2011 and lost from one of the segments falling within my parliamentary constituency. Perhaps, she would say that that election result was also fraudulent!
