IMF to consider Lagarde, Carstens for top job

In a different kind of battle, the IMF today whittled the candidate pool for its top post, saying it would consider just two contenders, French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde and Mexican Central Bank chief Agustin Carstens.

The top job in the IMF lies empty after Dominique Strauss-Kahn was forced to quit following a sex scandal.
