Seeking apology on a controversial government advertisement released in the national print media, India's junior Minister for Women and Child Development Krishna Tirath said she had set up a committee to probe the lapses.

Earlier in the day, the country was aghast to see in various dailies an advertisement against female foeticide with a photograph of former Pakistan Air Chief Marshal Tanvir Ahmed.

The advertisement was released by the ministry for women and child development.
