Iran has accelerated its nuclear programme and currently possesses sufficient supply of uranium to make three nuclear devices, a United Nations nuclear watchdog report claimed.

The report was presented ahead of a discussion by the International Atomic Energy Agency Board of Governors, as well as the organisation's General Assembly, which will meet in Vienna this month, Israeli daily Ha'aretz reported.

Iran currently has 22 kilogrammes of uranium enriched at levels of 20 per cent, and a total of 2.8 tonnes of uranium enriched at 3.5 per cent, the daily reported quoting the IAEA report.

The material is being supervised by IAEA inspectors, but the watchdog's report raises concerns over Iran's consistent rejection of its decisions regarding the identity of the inspectors.

IAEA reportedly points out that in June Tehran prevented two of its inspectors it did not like from entering its nuclear sites. Iran's efforts to interfere in the organisation's ability to inspect its nuclear sites are also highlighted in the report as suggesting that Tehran is following a predetermined path, which Western intelligence services have argued is aimed at achieving military nuclear capabilities, the daily said.

Israeli and United States intelligence organisations believe that Iran will acquire military nuclear capability by 2014 if continues to progress technologically at this pace.

May experts feel that the sanctions imposed against Iran have failed to deter it from achieving its nuclear ambitions. Israel has dubbed Iran's nuclear programme an 'existential threat' and many a times threatened with military action to foil its progress.

The Jewish state has emphasised that 'all options are on the table' to prevent Iran from going nuclear, but for the time being it would focus on diplomatic ways to achieve its goal. Tehran insists that its nuclear programme is for peaceful purposes.
