The Centre has formed three task forces for Leh, Kargil and Jammu to examine the developmental needs of the regions, with particular reference to deficiencies in infrastructure and make suitable recommendations.

The Union Home Ministry has finalised the three teams in consultations with the state government, which will go into the details of the developments in these three regions, official sources said on Tuesday.

The decision on forming of three task forces was taken after a meeting of the cabinet committee on security headed by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on September 25.

These task forces comprise professors from the Delhi University, Jamia Hamdard, Jamia Millia Islamia and Jawaharlal Nehru University and officials from Union home and finance ministries besides an official from the department of expenditure, the sources said.

The sources said that divisional commissioner of Kashmir and Jammu will be members of the task forces. The task forces will extensively examine developmental needs of Jammu and Ladakh with particular reference to deficiencies in infrastructure and make suitable recommendations. A report will be prepared and submitted to the government, they said.
