A court in Barabanki on directed the Mumbai police commissioner on Friday, to serve summons on Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt after he failed to turn up before it in a case relating to alleged derogatory remarks against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Arvind Mishra, while directing the Mumbai police commissioner to serve summons on Dutt, fixed July 29 as the next date of hearing. During an election rally at the K P College ground in Barabanki during the last Lok Sabha polls, Dutt, the then general secretary of Samajwadi Party, imitating his famous reel character "Munna Bhai" had made certain comments on the UP CM and the BSP supremo offering to give her "jadu ki jhappi" (magical hug).

The district administration had taken the comments seriously and filed a case against Dutt. A notice was also served to him for violation of model code of conduct.
