On the recommendation of Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, former director general of police S P S Rathore on Monday lost his police medals.

The government also decided to withdraw police medals to all officers who have been convicted by courts.

A meeting of the award committee, headed by Union Home Secretary G K Pillai, took a decision on the withdrawal of the 1985 police medal to Rathore for meritorious service.

The committee also took a decision on automatic withdrawal of all police medals given to officers who are convicted.

Hooda, earlier on Monday, recommended withdrawal of S P S Rathore's police medal for his alleged involvement in the Ruchika molestation case.

In a letter to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, Hooda said Rathore has brought 'disrepute and bad name' to the state and the police forces.

The letter also mentions 'moral turpitude' on the part of Rathore in the case.

Now when the committee has decided to withdraw the police medal of Rathore, a recommendation will then sent to the President.
