The family members of Partha Bag, one of the victims of the mysterious fire at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in Mumbai, have demanded a probe.
Bag's relatives have said that the Central Bureau of Investigation should undertake the probe.
Questioning the mysterious circumstances that led to the deaths of Bag and another research student, Bag's neighbours at his native Narayanpur village in South 24 Pargana district of West Bengal also accused BARC of not providing adequate security.
"I feel the institute failed to provide enough security, so boys from here and other places will not like to work there. We demand an inquiry into the matter. It would be better if the CBI conducts a probe," said Bag's neighbour Jaydeb Mondal.
Partha Bag and his colleague Umang Singh were killed in a fire at a chemistry lab of BARC on Tuesday. Both of them were PhD students and working as research scholars at the BARC.
Investigations are underway to ascertain the cause of the fire in the lab.
