Three suspected members of terror group Hizbul Mujahideen, who are believed to have come from Pakistan via Nepal, were on Tuesday detained by an anti-terrorism squad of Jammu and Kashmir police at the railway station in Jammu, police sources said.

Acting on intelligence input from central security agencies, a team of Special Operations Group of the police led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Mamta Sharma detained Abdul Jabbar Khan, Shamim Ahmad Sheikh and an unidentified child accompanying them soon after they disembarked from Gorakhpur Express.

The SOG squad detained three other persons who came to the station to receive Khan, Sheikh and the child, the sources said, adding all the six people were taken to an undisclosed destination for interrogation.

While Khan belongs to Badgam district, Sheikh comes from Tangmarg area of Baramulla district of the state, said the sources.

The duo were suspected to be members of Hizbul Mujahideen and received arms training in Pakistan before entering India through Nepal, they said.
