Former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje on Wednesday met senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader L K Advani amid reports that the standoff in the party over her resignation from the post of leader of the opposition in Rajasthan assembly may end this week.

Raje had a nearly-20 minute meeting with Advani and is understood to have discussed the party high command's order that she resign from the post. She has put in some demands before she steps down, party sources said.

The meeting has given rise to speculation that Raje may put in her papers soon. Sources close to her, however, said a decision is not imminent. Some of her party supporters have been asked to come to Delhi from Rajasthan.

Nearly a month ago, Raje had been summoned by the BJP central leadership to Delhi to hold a meeting with senior party leader M Venkaiah Naidu, who was appointed the pointsman to deal with the stalemate, as she refused to put in her papers in the wake of the party's defeat in assembly elections in the state.

Though Raje had come to Delhi, she sent her son and Jhalawar Member of Parliament Dushyant Singh to Naidu with the word that she was unwell and not in a position to meet him.

Earlier, Raje had shown defiance by sending more than 50 BJP members of legislative assembly to meet party president Rajnath Singh and contend that they did not want her to resign.
