Didn't violate SC order on statues: UP govt

The Uttar Pradesh [ Images ] government on Thursday told the Supreme Court that it has complied with its directions and stopped all construction activities at the Kanshi Ram Memorial Sthal in Lucknow [ Images ].

The state government filed an affidavit, denying media reports that it went ahead with the construction activities at the, even after giving an undertaking on September 8 that no further construction will take place.

The affidavit, filed in pursuance to the September 11 order, when the apex court had directed immediate stoppage of all further construction, repair and maintenance activities at the memorials, said it was following in letter and spirit the undertaking given by it on September 8.
