Buddhadeb will remain West Bengal CM, says Yechury

September 13, 2009 14:28 IST
Communist Party of India-Marxist politburo member Sitaram Yechury [ Images ] on Sunday said that Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee [ Images ] will remain West Bengal's [ Images ] Chief Minister, laying to rest speculation that he would be replaced.

"There is no such thought of removing him or that he should give up, or anything of that sort, on the agenda. He had fallen sick and it's as simple as that. He is a senior leader of the party and the politburo and continues to be so as well as CM," Yechury told mediapersons in New Delhi [ Images ].

Bhattarejee, who had earlier this month skipped a meeting of the politburo citing indisposition, is likely to be present in the next CPI-M [ Images ] politburo meeting on October 11.
