'LeT terrorist' sent to 14-day custody in Delhi

A suspected Lashkar-e-Tayiba terrorist arrested in the capital was sent to 14 days judicial custody by a Delhi court on Wednesday.

Mohd Aslam alias Saleem was produced before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja who sent him to judicial custody till September 23.

The court had on August 26 remanded the suspected terrorist to 14 days police custody after the prosecution requested it for the same for ascertaining his role in cases in Gujarat and Maharashtra.

The prosecution had submitted that Aslam was allegedly carrying explosives in sweet boxes to be delivered to his accomplices in Aurangabad district of Maharashtra.

The 27-year-old suspected terrorist, a resident of Jammu and Kashmir, was apprehended on August 25 by sleuths of Delhi Police's Special Cell. He was found carrying four detonators, two timers and 2 kgs of explosive chemicals.

Aslam was allegedly carrying a Jammu and Kashmir identity card bearing the name Salim Mohammed as also a Pakistani passport bearing the name Yusuf.
