Senior Andhra Pradesh minister K Rosaiah is likely to be made the acting chief minister in the wake of Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's death in a chopper crash.

Reddy was killed in a helicopter crash in the dense Nallamalla forest, authorities confirmed on Thursday morning.

Highly placed Congress sources said the party was not in a hurry to convene the meeting of the Congress Legislature Party, to elect Reddy's successor, and the meeting could take place three or four days later.

Rosaiah, 77, is Andhra's finance minister and the number two in the state cabinet.

The Congress Working Committee is scheduled to meet at 4.30 pm to chalk out the party's course of action in the wake of Reddy's tragic death.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh are also scheduled to visit Hyderabad to pay their condolences.

Union Home Minister P Chidambaram is also scheduled to address the media later today.
