Sathyam Theatre opens ticket window on the Web

The Sathyam cinema theatre in Madras has put up a Web site, which allows moviegoers to book tickets for various shows over the Internet.

This follows a similar move by Lido Theatre in Bangalore recently.

According to K R Subramanian, chief manager, Sathyam Theatre, 50 of the balcony seats will be available for advanced booking over the Internet.

Dear Mr Gates

Visitors to http://www.clicktickets.com can "block'' tickets five days in advance and up to three hours before the show.

Once the seats have been selected, the site displays a unique code, which has to be produced at the theatre to collect the tickets.

The theatre has stipulated that the tickets should be paid for and collected at least half-an-hour before the show.

According to Subramanian, once the Indian government allows electronic transactions over the Net, the theatre will make provisions to allow credit card payments at its Web site.
