NIIT builds defence software for Singapore

NIIT Limited has developed software for Singapore's ministry of defence to enable combat pilots to tackle zero-gravity situations.

NIIT President and CEO Vijay Thadani has said that the first phase of the Rs 10 million software development programme of the ministry of defence and the prime minister's office of Singapore is complete and the remaining part will be finished within an year.

Apart from the pilot-training software, NIIT has developed an accounting package for the Singapore ministry, Thadani said.

NIIT has adopted the 'economic value added' programme with the help of Stern Stewart and Co, USA, for better internal valuation mechanism.

NIIT has successfully worked on consulting, system integration and software development projects with companies across the globe on a wide range of hardware and software platforms, he claimed.

The company has emerged as a specialised solutions provider in the competitive ASEAN market. The state-of-the-art centre of competence for manufacturing solutions offers it solutions for the manufacturing sector in India and the ASEAN region.

Recently, Malaysia granted NIIT an 'MSC status' in its prestigious multimedia super corridor project, which promises to make Malaysia a superpower in information technology by the 2020.

This unique distinction puts NIIT amongst the first list of 21 global companies like Oracle, Hewlett Packard, NEC and Sun Microsystems which have been granted this status.
