Systems Union ties up with Price Waterhouse

Price Waterhouse Associates Limited, a subsidiary of the $5.5 billion global business management and accounting consultancy firm, has formally entered into a strategic alliance with Systems Union Software Limited, the UK-based financial software company, to introduce the latter's data warehousing products for the larger Indian corporations, multinationals, public-sector companies and government organisations.

companies (read multinationals) in not only vetting their finances, accounts, and management practices but also in restructuring their portfolios and products for injecting cost-effective procedures and making them profitable ventures.

The $80.5 million Systems Union, founded by financial management and software experts in the early Eighties, has grown into the second largest global supplier of accountancy solutions, next only to Peoplesoft among the top 15 financial software companies worldwide with an average growth rate of 50 per cent.

Systems Union, Asia-Pacific, CEO Mark A Wolfendale has said that the company roped in Price Waterhouse Associates to implement its latest version of the Sunsystems suite of software, a widely used international business application in the offices of its parent company clients, operating in India and abroad.

"In view of the excellent response from Price Waterhouse clients on the basis of their performances leading to cost-effective business operations, Systems Union is upbeat about the success of its software products in India where the potential for standardising accounting and management practices is immense in a developing economy."

Sunsystems, which is also an year 2000 compliant system, has two software packages, Sun Business and Sun Account which are complimentary leading to total systems integration of a company's key operations.

"With all-round competition growing in the wake of liberalisation, privatisation and globalisation of the Indian economy, thousands of companies are resorting to drastic measures to contain overheads, downsize product cycles to minimise inventories piling up, and upgrade their technologies."

According to PWA Executive Director Mani Bharadwaj, with the help of Sunsystems data warehouse site of software, the consultant company enables its clients to focus on key areas of business management covering diverse areas such as markets, customers, supply chain, finance and costs, risk and human resources. Systems Union had, prior to this, shipped its niche software products to about 70 user companies in India.
