Web EDI by Satyam
This is apart from its existing VAN based EDI and supply chain management solutions that it offers in association with US company Sterling Commerce Inc, the global market leaders in EDI solutions.

Sterling Commerce Inc Senior Vice-President James R Johnson claims, "World over, we have seen customers going the Web way for EDI and supply chain management. Customers like MCI, EAN, Ericsson UK, 3M, Compaq, Whirlpool and Xerox have successfully implemented and are enjoying benefits of our Web suite solution."

Satyam Infoway is actually introducing a Web EDI solution based on Sterling product GENTRAN: Server Web Suite.

Its architecture enables integration with the customer's existing systems including ERP implementations. The trading partners don't have to invest in any EDI or other software, a company statement claimed.

The browser becomes the universal interface. Also, the solution is so designed such that it hardly incurs any recurring costs. The solution also has other benefits like simple form-based transactions, ready for VAN EDI, easy addition of more trading partners with no extra investments etc. The solution is scalable.

Johnson emphasises on Sterling's commitment to provide the best technical and marketing support to Satyam and reiterates that India is considered to be one of the most important markets for e-commerce growth.

"Satyam Infoway is uniquely positioned to offer complete electronic commerce and Internet Solutions in India today. However, we at Satyam Infoway consider this to be only the beginning of the journey down the electronic commerce highway," said A Srinivasagopalan.

"The expertise that Satyam brings to its customers in India from Sterling are EDI solutions based on both network and Internet and Supply Chain Management solutions. Our partnership with Sterling has enabled us to offer the best and the latest in electronic commerce to customers like Rane Brakes, Henkel, Du Pont, Whirlpool, Osram, Birla 3M, Excise, Ports etc," he said.
