Launching 'sab.ki.bhasha' at the datapro stall during the Pune IT.Com '99 exhibition, District Collector Vijay Kumar Gautam said that with the explosion of the Internet, it was absolutely essential to build content that would be relevant to the local population.

"The availability of multilingual software on a choice of platforms between Windows and Lunix should enable government departments to communicate effectively and efficiently, using Marathi and other local languages and still having the option of using any other languages," Gautam said.

Arora termed the new software as a major initiative in taking the information technology to the masses.

Some of the features of sab.ki.bhasha include the multiple keyboard layout, special Anglo-Nagari keyboard, bilingual typing without changing the type font, online keyboard layout viewer and option for roman and language numerals.

sab.ki.bhasha supports MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Lotus Smart Suite, Foxpro, PageMaker and CorelDraw.
