Doctors offered free online access to medical reference

Email this story to a friend. To celebrate Doctor's Day on July 1, the Health Education Library for People has offered doctors in India 10 days of free online access to the full text of over 37 medical reference books and 48 medical journals.

At present, doctors in India can access the world's largest online virtual medical library for a single-user password for less than the cost of some medical textbooks.

The 37 full text medical reference books cover all fields of medicine, including Nelson's textbook of paediatrics, Cecil's textbooks of medicine, Kaplan and Sadock's comprehensive textbook of surgery and others.

Doctors also have access to a complete patient education library with over 2,500 patient education handouts, which they can personalise with their special instructions for their patients and print them, prescription information for more than 30,000 medications and more than 600 peer reviewed clinical practice guidelines so that they can keep up with the latest developments in their fields.
